DMK Faces BJP Chargesheet: Allegations of Corruption, Anti-Hindu Stance.webp

Chennai, April 1 BJP's Tamil Nadu election in-charge Piyush Goyal released a "chargesheet" that accused the DMK government of systemic corruption, financial mismanagement, and harboring an explicit anti-Hindu bias.

The BJP also accused the state government of illegal sand mining and deep-rooted corruption across departments.

Unveiled at the BJP state headquarters in Chennai on March 31, the chargesheet alleged that there were "massive irregularities" in the DMK regime, including over Rs 1 lakh crore in state liquor marketing operations, thousands of crores in highway tenders, and widespread municipal scams. The "chargesheet" claimed the state's financial health has collapsed, with the total debt burden surging past Rs 10 lakh crore.

The "chargesheet" accused Chief Minister M K Stalin's administration of systemic corruption and financial mismanagement.

Challenging the ruling party on its electoral pledges, the BJP document asserted that the government failed to fulfil over seventy per cent of its promises.

It claimed the administration abandoned commitments to reduce fuel prices, provide cooking gas subsidies, and cancel the NEET examination. Furthermore, it accused the government of betraying women by scrapping popular welfare schemes introduced during the previous regime, such as gold for marriage and subsidized two-wheelers.

A significant portion of the BJP's list of charges targeted the ruling alliance for what it termed an anti-Hindu ideology. It compiled quotes attributed to prominent leaders, claiming a sustained campaign to insult the faith of the majority, referencing alleged derogatory remarks regarding Sanatana Dharma and Hindu deities.

Additionally, the chargesheet alleged severe failures in social justice, citing a significant increase in crimes against Scheduled Castes and highlighting the delayed investigation into the Vengaivayal incident (in December 2022, residents of Vengaivayal alleged that human faces had been dumped into an overhead drinking water tank that supplied water to the Dalit neighbourhood) to claim the administration has failed marginalized communities in the state.
