Pudukottai (Tamil Nadu), April 2 AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami has said that former Tamil Nadu minister V Senthil Balaji will be the cause of an "unpleasant situation" for the ruling DMK, leading to that party's setback in the upcoming elections.
Addressing a poll rally here, the Leader of the Opposition criticized Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin for praising Senthil Balaji, who is accused of involvement in a bribery-for-jobs scam.
"Stalin is praising Senthil Balaji and says he need not worry about the Assembly election outcome, as victory is assured due to Senthil Balaji's presence (in Karur). But it will be Senthil Balaji who will be the cause of an unpleasant situation for the chief minister and his DMK," Palaniswami said.
It was the same Stalin, who, as Leader of the Opposition, had criticized Balaji, and now has changed his stance, Palaniswami added.
"The mention of Rs 10 brings to one's mind Senthil Balaji," he further said, referring to the party's frequent criticism of Balaji for his alleged involvement in the liquor scam.
Upon hearing this, the party members waved Rs 10 notes, prompting Palaniswami to smile and say, "You seem to know more than I do."
When asked to comment on expelled leader O Panneerselvam, who recently joined the DMK and has been nominated to contest from his home constituency of Bodinayakanur, Palaniswami said, "Let's not talk about him on this auspicious occasion."
"Now it has clearly been exposed who the DMK's B team is. Those who attempt to destroy the AIADMK will be ruined," Palaniswami, who is seeking re-election from Edappadi Assembly constituency, said.
