
Chennai, February 20 The ruling DMK began accepting applications on Friday from individuals seeking to contest the upcoming Assembly elections in Tamil Nadu.
On Friday, prospective candidates were seen patiently waiting in long queues to collect the application forms at Anna Arivalayam, the DMK headquarters.
A party release on February 18 stated that a fee of Rs 25,000 would be charged for candidates from the general category, and Rs 15,000 for women and candidates from reserved categories.
The release also stated that the application fee would be refunded if the constituencies chosen by the applicants are allocated to alliance partners during the seat-sharing discussions.
The DMK had announced that a committee would be formed to hold seat-sharing talks with alliance partners starting February 22.
The DMK-led alliance includes the Congress, CPI, CPI (M), VCK, MDMK led by Vaiko, Manithaneya Makkal Katchi (MMK), Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi (KMDK), and Tamilaga Vazhvurimai Katchi.
