Bengaluru, March 24 Three doctors, including a woman, were arrested after a video of them went viral, in which they were seen triple-riding on a two-wheeler and driving "recklessly" on the city's streets, police said on Tuesday.
The incident, which occurred in BTM Layout here on Sunday night, sparked outrage on social media, with the video going viral due to concerns about public safety.
Taking note of the video, police registered a case, terming it as irresponsible driving and violations of traffic rules.
In the video clip, one of the pillion riders, wearing a helmet, can be seen purportedly drinking from a beer bottle while the trio sped through a busy road late at night, further violating traffic norms.
The rider and the other pillion rider were not seen wearing helmets.
"After reviewing CCTV footage from the surrounding area, our team carefully examined the video to identify the two-wheeler and those involved. With the help of the vehicle's registration number, we traced the owner of the two-wheeler. All three seen in the video, including a female, are doctors. They are employed at different private hospitals," a senior police officer said.
The involved doctors were subsequently traced and arrested, he said.
"During questioning, one of them admitted to carrying a half-empty beer bottle, which he was seen consuming in the video while triple-riding on the two-wheeler," he added.
They were later released on station bail, as the charges against them are bailable, police added.
