Jorhat (Assam), April 7 State Minister for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita on Tuesday rejected the Congress' claim that Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma's wife possesses passports from three countries, stating that the documents provided by the party are "fake and fabricated".
The Congress had alleged at a press conference on Sunday that Assam CM's wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, holds passports from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Antigua-Barbuda, and Egypt.
"The Congress, along with its leader Pawan Khera and state party chief Gaurav Gogoi, presented certain documents, including passports, allegedly belonging to the Chief Minister's wife, and claimed that these passports were from three foreign countries," Margherita said.
"As the Minister of State for External Affairs, I want to state that through our diplomatic channels and investigation, we have found that these documents are fake and fabricated," Margherita told reporters in Jorhat.
