The two-day Jammu Vishwavidyalaya Sahitya Sanskriti Samagam concluded at the University of Jammu with panel discussions, cultural performances, and enthusiastic participation from students, scholars, and members of civil society.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. Umesh Rai, addressing the concluding session, praised the rich cultural diversity of the Doda region and emphasized the need to document, preserve, and promote its literary and cultural heritage for future generations. He stated that the initiative aimed to reconnect the younger generation with the region's traditions and provide a meaningful platform for dialogue between literature, culture, and public discourse.

Prof. Rai emphasized that universities must not only function as centers of academic learning but also as custodians of cultural memory. He highlighted the importance of integrating regional literature, languages, and traditions into academic curricula so that students remain connected with their roots while engaging with global knowledge systems. He also referred to the Arvind Gyan Kendra as part of the university's efforts to preserve valuable cultural literature.

Panel discussions during the event explored the historical roots and composite identity of Doda culture, highlighting contributions from regions such as Bhaderwah, Paddar, and the Pahari belt. Speakers also discussed the role of language, cinema, and literature in shaping youth consciousness and strengthening regional identity.

Student competitions, including elocution contests, saw wide participation, while folk performances by renowned artists and musical presentations by the BSF Band added vibrancy to the program.

It is worth noting that Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the event on March 13, 2026.

Over the two days, the Samagam transformed the campus into a hub of literary dialogue and cultural reflection, reaffirming the University's commitment to promoting Jammu's rich cultural legacy.
