
Thane, April 2 Firearms, including pistols and revolvers, weapons like knives and swords, as well as fake Indian currency notes (FICN) worth approximately Rs 3.52 lakh, were allegedly recovered from the house of a known criminal in Dombivali, Thane district, following a raid, a police official said on Thursday.
The raid on the house of Surendra Pandurang Patil (55), a construction businessman with a history of criminal activity, in Davdi was carried out on March 30 following a tip-off, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amarsingh Jadhav told reporters.
"The Crime Branch Unit III in Kalyan discovered firearms, bullets, swords, knives, and FICN in a secret bedroom within the house, which had an entrance through a cupboard. The seizure includes three locally made pistols, one six-shooter revolver, two air guns, and 405 live cartridges," Jadhav said.
Subsequent searches also revealed 167 bullets, seven village knives, sharp swords, sickles, an iron sabre, and a button knife, as well as FICN worth approximately Rs 3.52 lakh, the DCP said, adding that the total value of the seized items is Rs 12.21 lakh.
Patil is implicated in cases at the Manpada, Dombivli, and Mahatma Phule Chowk police stations related to attempted murder, possession of arms, sexual assault, and electricity theft, he said.
The accused has been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, the Arms Act, and the Maharashtra Police Act, and a team led by Assistant Inspector Sarjerao Patil is investigating further, the official informed.
