
Thane, April 2 Three auto-rickshaw drivers were arrested in Dombivali, Thane district, for allegedly gang-raping a 22-year-old woman security guard, a police official said on Thursday.
The incident took place on the night of March 27, and a First Information Report (FIR) was registered the following day, said Tilak Nagar police station senior inspector Vojaykumar Kadam.
"The victim knew the accused. She was invited by them to an apartment in Khambalpada for a party, during which she was gang-raped. After the woman approached the police, special teams were formed, and the accused, Chetan Chauhan (20), Hemant Chauhan (22), and Umesh Verma (30), all auto-rickshaw drivers, were arrested on March 29," he said.
The three have been charged with gang-rape and other offences under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Kadam said.
