
Mumbai, April 2 A 34-year-old man, working as a security guard, is alleged to have poisoned his three minor children before committing suicide in Solapur district, Maharashtra, police said on Thursday.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon in Tirhe village in the district. The children were admitted to the intensive care unit of a government hospital in Solapur in critical condition, the police said.
The deceased, identified as Bhima Anna Waghmare, worked as a security guard at a cement company, a police official said.
He was reportedly under severe mental stress following a domestic dispute with his wife, who had left him to stay with her parents. Relatives had attempted to mediate, but she refused to return, according to police.
Preliminary reports indicate that Waghmare took his children to a farm near Valsang, where he allegedly gave them poison before consuming it himself, the official said.
The children were in critical condition and were receiving treatment, the police said.
Further investigation into the incident is underway, they added.
