Domestic Dispute Turns Deadly: Man Arrested in Daughter's Murder Case.webp

Gorakhpur (UP), March 15 The death of a 23-year-old woman in the Pipraich area here, initially reported by her family as a domestic accident, was revealed to be a murder by her father, who was arrested on Sunday for the crime, police said.

Investigations by the police revealed that the accused father, identified as Kamlesh Bharti, allegedly attacked his daughter, Neha, with a sickle after catching her speaking to a boy on her mobile phone despite his repeated warnings.

According to the police, the accused attacked his daughter on March 13 following an argument at their residence.

During interrogation, Bharti confessed that he had warned his daughter several times about speaking to the boy. On the day of the incident, he saw her on the phone again, leading to a heated exchange.

"In anger, I slapped her. When she raised her hand in response, I lost control and attacked her with a sickle kept in the room," the accused told the police. He admitted to striking her multiple times on the neck.

After the assault, Bharti and his wife took Neha to a local hospital and subsequently to the BRD Medical College, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

Initially, the family claimed that Neha had accidentally slipped and fallen onto the sickle. However, the nature of the injuries raised suspicion, prompting the police to investigate further.

Circle officer (Chauri Chaura) Ratneshwar Singh said the accused has confessed to the crime and the weapon used in the attack has been recovered. Bharti has been arrested and will be produced before a court, Singh added.
