Tuticorin, (Tamil Nadu) February 21 The ruling DMK's women's wing is scheduled to begin its door-to-door campaign starting February 23, in view of the upcoming Assembly elections, Minister Geetha Jeevan has said.
The campaign will be held across all constituencies, she said at a training program for party members held here on February 20.
"During the recent MP elections, the party members went out to the field with the objective of winning all 40 seats. We worked towards that goal, and we achieved victory. Our alliance won all 40 seats. Similarly, for the upcoming legislative elections, the women's wing should conduct a door-to-door campaign starting February 23," the Minister for Social Welfare and Women Empowerment said.
She urged the members to promote the welfare measures of the Tamil Nadu government during the campaign.
"Whether it's the export of electronics, industrial growth, or women's employment, Tamil Nadu is a leading state. This is according to the statistics provided by the Union government. They have stated that Tamil Nadu is a pioneer," she said.
Addressing the gathering, the minister said that various schemes, including the Kalaignar Kanavu Illam scheme, and subsidies provided for purchasing tractors, have been well-received in villages and these should be made known to the public.
"You should all participate in the door-to-door campaign according to the election strategy. That is the objective. Even with five people, you can begin this campaign, particularly in the evenings, from 5 pm to 7 pm," she said.
