Assam CM attends Doul Festival at Batadrava Than

Assam Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma attended the third day of the five-day Sri Krishna Doul Utsav at Sri Sri Batadrava Than on Wednesday.

Amid the vibrant celebrations surrounding the Doul festival, the Chief Minister offered prayers for the well-being of the people of Assam.

Speaking to the media, Dr Sarma said that the government has decided to preserve the sanctity of the sacred birthplace of Srimanta Sankardeva at Batadrava. According to this decision, all visitors entering the Abirbhav Kshetra (birthplace complex) will henceforth be required to wear traditional attire. However, children under 12 years of age will be exempt from this rule.

Addressing devotees after offering prayers at the Kirtan Ghar of Batadrava Than, Dr Sarma announced that the remaining development works at the Kshetra would be completed after the elections.

Local MLA Rupak Sarma accompanied the Chief Minister during his visit to Batadrava Than.
