Union Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office, Jitendra Singh, stated that India’s strong global standing under the leadership of Narendra Modi has enabled the country to effectively manage international challenges.
Speaking to the media after attending the inauguration and ground-breaking ceremony of the Orchid Bio Pharma manufacturing unit in Badala, Kathua, Dr. Singh said that due to India’s strong diplomatic relations, Indian-owned LPG-laden ships were allowed to move from Iran, even when several countries were facing an LPG crisis. He also recalled that Indian students were safely evacuated during the Ukraine conflict due to timely intervention by the Government of India.
The new pharmaceutical unit, being set up with an investment of approximately ₹800 crore, aims to strengthen domestic production of antibiotics and reduce dependence on imports. The event was also attended by Orchid Bio Pharma Chairman, Ram Gopal Agarwal.
Dr. Singh said that the initiative will support the vision of "Atmanirbhar Bharat" (Self-Reliant India) and create employment opportunities for local youth in the Kathua district.
