Jaipur, March 14 Amidst increasing traffic, the Rajasthan government is exploring the possibility of an elevated traffic corridor along the Dravyavati river here, an official said.
To this end, the Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has approved the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) for a proposed elevated traffic corridor along the Dravyavati river and has cleared several development works worth crores of rupees.
The aim is to improve traffic management, strengthen infrastructure, and boost sports facilities in the city.
These decisions were made at a meeting of the Project Works Committee, chaired by JDA Commissioner Siddharth Mahajan, on Friday.
Administrative and financial approval of Rs 6 crore was granted for preparing the DPR for the proposed elevated traffic corridor along the Dravyavati river, keeping in view the need to reduce traffic pressure in Jaipur and future requirements.
The project is expected to ease traffic flow and significantly reduce congestion in the city.
Administrative and financial approval of Rs 16.67 crore was also granted for the construction of culverts at four locations on the Dravyavati river to facilitate smooth movement.
In a move to promote sports infrastructure, administrative and financial approval of Rs 7.90 crore was granted for the construction and development of a modern sports complex along the Dravyavati river.
The planning of land allotted to the Rajasthan State Sports Council for a proposed outdoor stadium in the Jaisinghpura Khor area was also approved.
"The implementation of these projects will strengthen Jaipur's traffic system and infrastructure and provide fresh momentum to the city's planned and sustainable development," JDA commissioner Mahajan said.
