March 16, New Delhi – Dubai authorities suspended flights at Dubai International Airport early Monday after a drone strike near the airport triggered a large fire close to fuel storage facilities.
The Dubai Media Office confirmed the strike and said emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene. The fire was brought under control within a few hours and contained without affecting other critical infrastructure.
The incident forced a temporary halt to flight operations, and authorities implemented traffic closures around the airport to allow emergency responders safe access.
The drone strike comes amid escalating tensions across West Asia, following the conflict that began on February 28 between the United States, Israel, and Iran. The attack also follows recent U.S. strikes on Kharg Island, a key hub for Iran’s crude exports, further heightening regional instability.
