Early Diagnosis, Effective Treatment Key to Ending TB.webp

Kohima, March 24 Early diagnosis and appropriate quality treatment are crucial to ending tuberculosis (TB), a senior official said on Tuesday.

Addressing a World Tuberculosis Day programme, National Health Mission Nagaland's Mission Director Dr. Keveduyi Theyo said the National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) has expanded molecular diagnostic facilities, including CBNAAT and Truenat machines, to almost every health block to ensure early detection.

He said ultra-portable handheld X-ray machines have been deployed in all districts, while free treatment and nutritional support are being provided to both drug-sensitive and drug-resistant TB patients.

He also highlighted the role of Ni-kshay Mitras in supporting patients and urged early screening, non-stigmatisation, and completion of treatment to prevent drug-resistant TB.
