New Delhi, March 27 The Election Commission on Friday sought a factual report from the West Bengal chief electoral officer regarding a video purportedly showing Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee threatening personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force.
EC officials alleged that at the Nandaprasad Girls’ High School ground in Darjeeling, Banerjee "openly threatened" the CRPF personnel by asking all women and girls to be present at the polling booths and, if necessary, to use household kitchen equipment to "handle any situation".
The EC has asked the West Bengal CEO to submit a report on the video.
The CEO will ask the district election officer to verify the video, officials said.
