ECI Removes Sector Assistant Over Political Activity

ECI Removes Sector Assistant Over Political Activity.webp

The Election Commission of India (ECI) has removed Atanu Chakraborty, the Sector Assistant for the Panihati Assembly Constituency in West Bengal, and issued a notice asking him to explain his conduct and failure to perform his duties. This action follows reports of Chakraborty's involvement in political activities with a particular party, which the Commission has taken note of.

In a separate incident, the Commission has initiated disciplinary action against the Inspector-in-Charge of Baharampur, Murshidabad district, for dereliction of duty. This follows reports of unlawful obstruction during the election campaign and nomination process of senior Congress leader and former MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury. Furthermore, the ECI has also initiated action against four leaders of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) in connection with the same incident.
