Educational Institutions Resume Operations in Kashmir

Educational Institutions Resume Operations in Kashmir.webp

Srinagar, March 9 – All educational institutions across the Kashmir Valley reopened on Monday as normal life resumed in all 10 districts of the Valley following the subsiding of pro-Ayatullah Ali Khamenei protests that had erupted after the US-Israeli attacks on Iran.

Officials stated that schools, colleges, universities, and other educational institutions reopened normally in the Valley on Monday.

Educational institutions in the Valley had been closed following protests against the US-Israeli attacks on Iran and the killing of Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei.

These institutions were closed as a precautionary measure. J&K Education Minister, Sakina Itoo, said that following the restoration of normalcy in the Valley, all educational institutions had been directed to resume functioning from today.

Cheerful schoolchildren wearing colorful uniforms, accompanied by their parents, eagerly waited for school buses in the morning.

Numerous school buses departed early in different districts, while college and university students crowded public transport vehicles to reach their campuses after a one-week break.

Following the killing of Khamenei in the joint US-Israeli strikes on February 28, thousands of angry Shia and Sunni Muslim protesters took to the streets, shouting slogans in support of Islam and against the US and Israel.

In some areas, the angry protesters clashed with the police and security forces, after which authorities imposed restrictions across the Valley.

During the handling of the law and order situation, the police and deployed security forces exercised utmost restraint to ensure that there were no casualties or damage to public life and property.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah interacted with members of the civil society from the religious, social, and business communities in Srinagar. Omar Abdullah appealed to the civil society members to use their influence to express the grief of the people in a responsible and dignified manner.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah received a positive response from members of the civil society, including senior leaders of the Shia community.

DGP, Nalin Prabhat, remained in the Valley throughout the period when restrictions were in place.

Senior officers of the police force, led by the DGP, visited areas affected by protests and directed the deployed forces to handle the situation with firmness and tact.
