Lucknow, March 24 In an effort to modernize and make "gaushalas" (cow sheds) across the state self-sufficient, preparations are underway to equip them with German technology, the Uttar Pradesh government said on Tuesday.

In this regard, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Uttar Pradesh Gau Seva Aayog (Cow Welfare Commission) and Germany's reputed institution, GIZ GmbH, according to a statement.

The agreement was signed during an event held at the Aayog's office, where the Chairman of the Gau Seva Aayog and a delegation from the institution jointly formalized the partnership.

Under this collaboration, technical training will be provided to selected gaushalas in the state to make their operations more organized and efficient. Special emphasis will be placed on capacity building and human resource skill development.

Chairman of the Gau Seva Aayog, Shyam Bihari Gupta, said the training will focus on management practices, optimal utilization of resources, and adoption of modern technologies. The selection of gaushalas for the initiative will be carried out by the Gau Seva Aayog.

A key feature of the agreement is that it is entirely based on technical cooperation, with no provision for financial assistance, focusing instead on the exchange of knowledge and skills.

Gupta said the initiative will make gaushalas in the state more capable and self-sufficient, while also enhancing the efficiency of individuals associated with cow service by equipping them with knowledge of modern technologies.

The objective of the Yogi Adityanath government is to develop gaushalas not merely as shelters but as organized and productive units.

Through the training, the scientific and commercial utilization of cow dung, cow urine and other cow-based products will also be promoted, aligning with the goals of sustainable development and environmental conservation.

The adoption of new technologies is expected to make gaushalas economically self-sufficient, further strengthening the rural economy, the statement said.
