
Lucknow, March 17 Eggs sold in Uttar Pradesh will have expiry dates on them, just like packaged medicines, as the state government has made it mandatory for egg producers to stamp expiry dates on their products from April 1, an official said on Tuesday.
Additional Chief Secretary, Animal Husbandry, Mukesh Meshram, said that egg producers will have to stamp each egg with the date of production and also with the date of expiry.
Officials also said that eggs stored at an ambient temperature of around 30 degrees Celsius, shall be consumed within two weeks of the date of laying, five weeks from the date of laying, when stored at a refrigeration temperature in the range of 2 degrees Celsius to 8 degrees Celsius.
