SHOPIAN, March 15: In preparation for the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr festival, the Food Safety Department of Shopian conducted an intensive market inspection in the areas of Killora, Krawora, and Traperpora to ensure compliance with food safety standards.

The inspection focused on establishments dealing with commonly consumed items such as bread, mutton, bakery products, and vegetables. Officials examined food handling practices, storage conditions, and the quality of items being sold.

During the inspection, expired snack items were found at some Food Business Operators (FBOs), which were immediately seized and destroyed to prevent any health risks.

Additionally, three FBOs were found to be in violation of the Food Safety and Standards Act and were penalized under Section 69 of the Act.
