February 24, New Delhi – The Election Commission organized the National Round Table Conference of the ECI and State Election Commissioners at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi today. This conference is being held after a 27-year gap.
Speaking about the contribution of over a crore of officials during India's general elections, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar stated that the massive efforts of officials, from the booth level to the highest positions, have earned India global prestige.
Gyanesh Kumar highlighted that India has the largest electoral database in the world. "With such a large electoral database, conducting elections and preparing electoral rolls becomes one of the most challenging tasks on this planet," he said. During the Lok Sabha elections, nearly 1.8 crore officials are on deputation, enabling the Election Commission of India to conduct elections fairly, transparently, and efficiently.
He added that this mammoth work, carried out with commitment by officials at every level—from booth-level officials to assistant electoral registration officers, electoral registration officers, and district election officers—has contributed to India earning global recognition in the field of elections.
