Election Commission Directs Kolkata Police to Identify Key Offenders.webp

Kolkata, April 7 – The Election Commission has taken several steps to ensure free and peaceful Assembly elections in West Bengal, and as part of these efforts, the Kolkata Police are preparing a list of the most notorious criminals.

It was learned on Tuesday that each police station has been instructed to identify the most notorious criminals who could cause unrest during the election.

Before the elections, the police prepare a list of "troublemakers," with each police station sending it to the city police headquarters. This list also reaches the Election Commission, and based on it, surveillance is carried out in each area. Simultaneously, preventive arrests are also carried out.

The police have already prepared a list of "troublemakers" on behalf of the police stations and the intelligence department. However, this time, the Kolkata Police have been instructed to select the names of the "most notorious" from that list.

The police headquarters have instructed every police station in the city to select ten names of "troublemakers" or notorious offenders from the list of all criminals in each police station area. The names of these ten people will be sent to Lalbazar (city police headquarters) through the Deputy Commissioner of the concerned division, and it will, in turn, send that list to the Election Commission.

Officials at Lalbazar said that the Election Commission has recently suspended the Officer-in-Charge of Kasba police station for not including the name of Sona Pappu, a notorious criminal from south Kolkata, on the list of "troublemakers."

Following this, the police are being instructed to keep a close watch on those who can cause a lot of trouble during or before the voting in each area.

That is why this time, Lalbazar has ordered the preparation of a list not only of "troublemakers" but also of the "most notorious criminals." At the same time, Lalbazar has also issued instructions to keep a special watch on the activities of these ten criminals in their area. The police have said that they will keep a special watch on them so that they cannot cause any trouble during the voting.
