
The full bench of the Election Commission of India held a meeting with recognized national and state political parties in Kolkata today, in connection with the upcoming general election to the West Bengal Assembly.
The meeting was followed by representatives from enforcement agencies, and later, a review meeting was held with state IGs and DIGs, District Election Officers, and Superintendents of Police. As further information became available, the meeting was still in progress.
The ECI will hold a poll-preparedness meeting with the State Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), the nodal officer of the state police, and the central reserve police force tomorrow. Subsequently, the Commission will meet with the Chief Secretary, DGP, and other senior officers of the West Bengal government, followed by a meeting with Booth Level Officers and a press conference.
