The Election Commission has issued an advisory to all media platforms and broadcasters, prohibiting the display of election-related content during the silence period, which is 48 hours and applies to the elections in Assam, Kerala, Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and the by-elections in eight Assembly constituencies. The Commission stated that TV, radio channels, and cable networks must ensure that the content of programs broadcast during this period does not promote any particular party or candidate, or influence the outcome of the election. This includes the display of any opinion poll. The election body has also prohibited the conduct and dissemination of exit poll results through print or electronic media between 7 AM on April 9th and 6:30 PM on April 29th.
