
April 09, New Delhi – Voting is in full swing in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry for the state assembly elections, with eligible voters turning out in large numbers to cast their ballots.
In Kerala, over 27 million electors will decide the fate of 883 candidates across 140 constituencies. So far, 49.7% of the polling has been completed in the southern state.
In Assam, more than 25 million electors are eligible to vote for the 126-member Legislative Assembly. There are 722 candidates contesting the election. As of 1 pm IST, 59.63% of voters had cast their votes.
Following his vote in Dibrugarh, Member of Parliament Sarbananda Sonowal urged everyone to exercise their franchise, stating that it is a chance not only to elect their candidates but also their future.
In Puducherry, a voter turnout of 56.83% was recorded as of 1 pm IST. The Chief Minister of Puducherry was among the first voters, arriving on a motorbike shortly after voting began in the Union Territory.
