Electoral Roll Revision Highlights Importance of Voter Accuracy.webp

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar stated today that the accurate electoral rolls are the foundation of any democracy. He made these remarks while addressing the National Round Table Conference of the Election Commission of India and State Election Commissioners in New Delhi.

Speaking about the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Mr. Kumar said that all eligible voters should be on the electoral rolls, while all ineligible voters must be excluded. He added that the SIR has been implemented in Bihar and completed flawlessly with zero appeals. He also emphasized that, in addition to ensuring the purity of the electoral rolls, it is also essential to make them accessible and easy for voters to use. He said that the Special Intensive Revision began in Bihar, and after that, the exercise was conducted in 12 states, with the final electoral rolls of 11 states being published.
