In West Bengal, the Election Commission has released the complete list of voters under judicial review as part of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) for the electoral roll. For the first time, details have been published at the district level, clearly indicating whether voters are eligible or ineligible.
According to the report, over 60 lakh names were under scrutiny. Of these, over 32 lakh voters have been confirmed as eligible, while nearly 27 lakh have been marked as ineligible.
Murshidabad topped the list with the highest number of exclusions, approximately 4.55 lakh voters. North 24 Parganas followed with 3.25 lakh names removed. Malda, Nadia, South 24 Parganas, Birbhum, Hooghly, West Bardhaman, and North Dinajpur also saw significant exclusions.
The Commission clarified that each case was examined carefully before publishing the list. Importantly, in accordance with Supreme Court directions, voters marked as ineligible can appeal to the judicial tribunal for reconsideration.
