
A massive fire engulfed a cotton factory in the HMT Industrial Area, prompting a large-scale emergency response.
February 26, Srinagar: A massive fire broke out today in the HMT Industrial Area in Srinagar, engulfing a cotton factory and prompting a large-scale emergency response.
A fire call was received at the State Fire Control Room in Srinagar, after which Fire Station Mujgund was immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, fire personnel found the cotton factory fully engulfed in flames.
Given the magnitude of the incident, additional reinforcements were rushed from Fire Station JVC Veer. The Fire & Emergency Headquarters also deployed Water Bowsers and Foam Tenders to strengthen the firefighting operation.
Firefighting teams are actively engaged at the site and are making all-out efforts to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading to adjacent industrial units.
The operation is being carried out under the overall supervision of Alok Kumar, ADGP Fire & Emergency Services. On-site monitoring is being conducted by Dr. Mir Aqib Hussain, Deputy Director F&ES, along with Mobilizing Officer Aijaz Ahmad Shah.
Further details regarding the cause of the fire and the extent of damage are awaited.
