New Delhi, March 18 The Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited (AIC) has launched the "Krishi Sakhi" initiative to empower women farmers and work towards inclusive growth.
This initiative aligns with the United Nations' recognition of 2026 as the "International Year of the Woman Farmer."
Through structured activities across its Head Office and Regional Offices, AIC aims to create sustained awareness, encourage women's participation in agriculture and crop insurance, and celebrate their contribution to strengthening the agricultural sector in India, the state-owned insurer said in a statement.
Several other activities, such as publishing related articles and interviews, and awareness campaigns on sanitation and hygiene in rural areas (particularly targeting women farmers and rural households), have been scheduled under this initiative to recognize, empower, and engage women farmers across the country.
