Dehradun, March 18 The Uttarakhand government has removed the Managing Directors of two energy sector corporations from their posts with immediate effect, bringing the total number of Managing Directors removed in the state to three in the last 20 days.

Both the removed Managing Directors were serving on post-retirement extensions.

According to an order issued Tuesday night by R. Meenakshi Sundaram, Principal Secretary of the State Energy Department, Anil Kumar, Managing Director of Uttarakhand Urja Nigam Limited (UPCL), has been relieved of his post with immediate effect. The state government had granted him a two-year post-retirement extension, effective June 30, 2024.

Gajendra Singh Budiyal, General Manager of Yamuna Valley I, UJVNL, has been appointed as the new Managing Director of UPCL. He will serve in that position until a regular appointment is made.

Similarly, Sandeep Singhal, who was on a two-year extension from June 30, 2024, after retiring as Managing Director of UJVNL Limited, has also been relieved from his post with immediate effect.

Ajay Kumar Singh, who was holding the position of General Manager, Bhagirathi Valley, UJVNL Limited, has been given the additional responsibility of Managing Director, UGVNL, in addition to his current responsibilities, until further orders.

The government has also relieved Ajay Kumar Agarwal, who was on extension as Director (Projects) in UPCL, with immediate effect.

Earlier, on February 27, the government removed Prakash Chandra Dhyani from the post of Managing Director of Power Transmission Corporation of Uttarakhand Limited (PITKUL).
