Escalating Tensions: Energy Hubs Hit Amid Regional Conflict.webp

April 6, New Delhi – Israel carried out strikes on Iran's petrochemical sector, targeting major facilities in Asaluyeh, a key energy hub.

The attack targeted the South Pars complex, Iran's largest petrochemical facility, with multiple explosions reported. Critical infrastructure, including power and utility units, was affected, leading to disruptions across several petrochemical operations.

Iranian authorities said the situation at the complex was under control, even as the strikes were seen as a significant impact on the country's energy sector. Israeli officials said key facilities linked to Iran's energy exports were affected.

Strikes were also reported near Shiraz, targeting additional petrochemical infrastructure.

Meanwhile, the United States Central Command released visuals of strikes on Iranian military targets, stating that operations were aimed at degrading military capabilities.

The International Atomic Energy Agency said recent strikes occurred near the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant but confirmed that the facility itself was not damaged.

Amid escalating tensions, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps warned of intensified action if attacks continue, including threats related to the Strait of Hormuz.

In the wider region, airstrikes were reported in southern Lebanon, including Nabatieh, while sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and surrounding areas following missile launches from Iran. Damage was also reported in Ramat Gan after incoming strikes.

The developments mark a further escalation in the ongoing regional conflict, with growing concerns over energy security and civilian safety.
