Escalating Tensions: Iran Launches Attacks Amid US Response.webp

March 15, New Delhi: Iran has vowed retaliation after Donald Trump announced further strikes on Kharg Island, escalating tensions in the region. The warning came as Iran launched fresh attacks while the United States and Israel continued striking multiple targets across Iran on Saturday.

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it launched the 49th round of Operation True Promise-4, targeting three U.S. military bases in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Kuwait with missiles and drones. Earlier rounds of the operation had also struck Israeli sites and American military installations across the region.

The United States Central Command said more than 90 military targets on Kharg Island were hit in large-scale strikes on Friday. According to CENTCOM, the attacks destroyed naval mine depots, missile bunkers and other military facilities while avoiding damage to oil infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Iran has issued evacuation warnings around major ports in the UAE. Tehran claims U.S. forces used facilities in the UAE to launch attacks on Iran’s oil infrastructure.

Civilians have been urged to leave areas around key ports including Jebel Ali Port, Khalifa Port and Fujairah Port. Responding to the allegations, the UAE presidential advisor Anwar Gargash rejected the accusations made by Iran’s foreign minister, calling them part of a “confused policy that has misdirected its aim, lost its compass, and forsaken wisdom.”

In a post on X, Gargash said the UAE has the right to defend itself but continues to prioritize reason and restraint while seeking a way out for Iran and the wider region.
