Escape from Hospital: Accused Flees Rajasthan Jail.webp

Kota, March 10 An accused in a murder case, who was being held at the Chhabra jail in Baran district of Rajasthan, is alleged to have escaped from a government hospital in the district late on Monday, police said.

While multiple teams have been formed to track down the accused, disciplinary action and inquiry proceedings are being initiated against five police personnel who were stationed with the inmate, they added.

According to police, Bablu Jat, a resident of Gwalior in Madhya Pradesh, had been on the run for 19 years in connection with a murder case registered at the Chhipabarod police station in Baran district.

He was recently arrested by a special team from Gwalior after a month-long extensive search operation. Following his arrest, he was handed over to the Chhipabarod police and later lodged in Chhabra Jail.

Police said the accused was admitted to Baran District Hospital on Monday after he complained of health issues, and police personnel and prisoner escort guards were deployed with him for the duration of his treatment.

However, late on Monday, the accused is alleged to have escaped by breaking a window of the hospital room and evading the escort guards on duty, police said.

Baran Superintendent of Police Abhishek Andasu said disciplinary action and a preliminary departmental inquiry has been initiated against a head constable and four escort guards who were stationed with the inmate at the hospital.

Police have formed special teams to track the absconding accused, and raids are being conducted at possible hideouts, he added.

Officials said Bablu Jat had been living in Gwalior for the past 19 years, frequently changing his identity and appearance to avoid arrest.
