Europe Warns Trade Deals at Risk Amid Trump Tariff.webp

Europe has warned that trade agreements struck with the U.S. could now be in jeopardy following President Donald Trump's announcement of a new global 15 percent tariff on all imports over the weekend. Trump's move came after the U.S. Supreme Court invalidated his global tariffs policy, which had been implemented last spring, and which had disrupted the long-standing global trading order.

Officials in Europe and London expressed concern and alarm at the latest developments in global trade relations, saying that Trump's new tariff policy could jeopardize trade agreements signed with the U.S. last year. EU officials have requested more clarity from the White House regarding the practical implications of the new tariff policy for their respective trade deals, which saw most EU exports to the U.S. subject to a 15 percent duty, and those from the U.K. subject to a 10 percent levy.
