Shimla, April 2 Police have filed a case against Solan's Shoolini University in connection with the suicide of a 21-year-old former MBA student, who alleged harassment by his employer, authorities said on Thursday.

The action came in the wake of a massive protest on the university campus by the students.

As it happened, Nitin Chauhan, an MBA student of the varsity, was employed by a company in Dehradun.

The native of Rohru was promised a salary of Rs 50,000, but was only paid half, and was forced to work long hours until late at night.

According to the police, on March 28, they received a call from Solan Civil Hospital, informing them about a student's suicide by hanging.

Chauhan had marks on his neck and no other visible injuries, the police said.

Among the items seized from his room were a diary, a mobile phone, and a rope.

The diary contained a suicide note in which Chauhan purportedly admitted to being frustrated with his life, the police said.

Solan Superintendent of Police Tirumalaraju SD Verma said an FIR has been filed against the university, and an investigation is underway.
