Expanding Educational Opportunities: CM SHRI Schools Open in New Delhi.webp

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan inaugurated 75 CM Shri schools across New Delhi. Speaking at the inauguration of the CM SHRI School in Sarojini Nagar, Mr. Pradhan said that the CM SHRI schools primarily benefit children from middle-class and economically weaker families, while ensuring quality education and modern infrastructure.

The Minister stated that approximately 45 lakh children are studying in Delhi, including about 20 lakh in private schools and 25 lakh in government and municipal schools. Mr. Pradhan noted that Delhi represents the entire nation, and its education standards must serve as a national benchmark. Mr. Pradhan praised the Delhi government for operationalizing 75 CM SHRI schools within one year, and said that this reflects its commitment to educational reform.

Speaking to the media, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that the 75 new CM SHRI schools were built as model government schools to match private institutions in quality and facilities. She said that the focus is on providing children with better classrooms and better opportunities.

Under the scheme, an Information and Communication Technology (ICT) lab with 40 computers has been set up to promote coding skills and cyber awareness. A digitized library network linking 11 schools has also been introduced, along with language labs offering foreign language courses such as German, Japanese, French and Spanish, in addition to English.
