
Nagpur, March 1 Family members of the 17 workers killed in an explosion at an explosives factory in Nagpur, Maharashtra, on Sunday will undergo DNA testing to identify the deceased, whose bodies are beyond recognition, police said.
A powerful explosion occurred at the factory of SBL Energy Limited, a manufacturer of mining and industrial explosives, in Raulgaon, Katol tehsil, between 7 and 7.15 am, killing 17 workers and injuring 18 others.
Distraught family members of the victims gathered at the factory compound, about 50 km from the district headquarters, in search of news about their loved ones.
"Blood samples are being collected from family members for DNA testing to identify the charred remains," a senior police official at the scene said.
Close relatives were taken to the Government Medical Hospital and College (GMCH) for the test.
"We are at a loss. We don't understand what happened, and we haven't yet found the body of our child," a grieving family member told
