Mumbai, March 20 Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has asked state women's commission chairperson Rupali Chakankar to resign amid controversy over her alleged links with a rape accused.
Chakankar met Fadnavis in the evening, and during the meeting, the chief minister asked her to resign, sources said.
Opposition parties have targeted Chakankar, who belongs to the NCP, over her alleged connections with 'godman' Ashok Kharat, who was arrested by the Nashik Crime Branch for allegedly raping a woman.
