
Bhagalpur, March 11 Three young men from a family drowned in the Ganga river in Bhagalpur district of Bihar on Wednesday morning while trying to save their aunt, officials said.
The incident occurred around 9:30 am near a ghat in the Ghogha police station area, where the family had gathered for a 'mundan' (tonsure) ceremony.
The deceased have been identified as Krishna Kumar (26), Sunny Kumar (24), and Bobby Kumar (26).
They were originally from Delhi but had come to their native village, Olapur, to participate in the ceremony.
Speaking to reporters, Ghogha SHO Ashutosh Kumar said, "The three men jumped into the river to rescue a drowning woman, but they went too deep and drowned."
Police said the woman, Rukmani Devi (35), was rescued with the help of locals and later admitted to a private clinic.
