Family Mourns Losses in Himachal Vehicle Incident.webp

Dharamshala, March 28 Two people from a family died, while three others were critically injured after a car plunged into a deep gorge in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, police said on Saturday.

The accident occurred near Ghera village on the Dharkandi road, they said, adding that the family was returning from a function when the incident happened.

The incident came to light on Saturday morning when passersby noticed a severely damaged vehicle lying in the gorge and alerted the authorities.

Eyewitnesses said the car was completely mangled, indicating the severity of the crash. It is suspected that the accident took place late Friday night, leaving the victims without immediate help for several hours.

According to ASP Bir Bahadur, the deceased have been identified as Karan Bahadur (40) and Kareena Devi (18). Three other occupants of the vehicle were rescued.

Upon receiving information, the police and the 108 ambulance service rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation with the assistance of local residents.

The injured were initially taken to a nearby hospital and later referred to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College, Tanda, due to their critical condition.

The police have registered a case, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination. An investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident.
