Hyderabad, February 25 – A young YouTuber died by suicide after allegedly failing to cope with a relationship with another YouTuber in Hyderabad. They had broken up a year ago, and she was reportedly experiencing significant emotional distress since then, having allegedly attempted suicide six months earlier.
Komali (21), from Visakhapatnam, hanged herself at her uncle’s house in Chitrapuri colony in Manikonda, under the jurisdiction of the Raidurgam Police Station, according to police on Wednesday.
The incident came to light after Komali’s family filed a complaint with the police.
Komali was a B.Sc student at Mallareddy University and was making YouTube videos as a part-time job.
She had been in a relationship with Nikhil Reddy, a successful YouTuber, for three years while working as a software engineer. Nikhil is also from Visakhapatnam.
They had broken up a year ago due to some differences. She was reported to be under severe emotional distress after the breakup, and had allegedly attempted suicide six months earlier.
Nikhil reportedly called her two days ago, and they had an argument. She hanged herself with a saree when no one was home.
Komali gained a following on social media through her YouTube videos on lifestyle, daily vlogs, and personal experiences.
Her recent video about her Tirumala pilgrimage went viral. She visited the shrine to fulfill her personal wish. It was her last post.
Based on a complaint from Komali’s family, the Raidurgam police registered a case. The police were questioning family members, Nikhil, and other friends as part of the investigation into the reasons behind the suicide.
In another incident in Hyderabad, a man was stabbed to death by unknown assailants. The incident occurred early on Wednesday near the Bharatnagar flyover, under the jurisdiction of the Sanathnagar Police Station.
The victim, Shankar (48), was from Karnataka. He had been working at a hotel in Moosapet for the last two years.
Police registered a case and took the body for post-mortem examination. The murder is suspected to be related to an extramarital affair.
