Deoria (UP), March 15 Union Minister and Rashtriya Lok Dal supremo Jayant Chaudhary said on Sunday that farmers can expand their businesses by accessing better markets through farmer producer organizations, and they need to work in an organized manner to become economically stronger.
He said that the government has increased the limit of the Kisan Credit Card to provide easy loans to farmers, but the benefits of such schemes will be fully realized only when farmers become aware and work collectively in groups.
Addressing a public meeting here, he said, "Farmers need to work in an organized manner to become economically stronger and can expand their business by accessing better markets through farmer producer organizations (FPOs)."
Chaudhary said that farmers are by nature risk-takers as they take risks every season in agriculture.
"If the younger generation of farmers develops an understanding of business and management along with farming, the condition of villages can change significantly," he said.
Referring to the work done for farmers by his grandfather, former prime minister Chaudhary Charan Singh, and his father, former union minister Chaudhary Ajit Singh, he said that the NDA government is also working for farmers in line with their ideas.
He said that farmers today are not helpless but represent the country's cultural heritage.
