Srinagar, March 26 Amid the ongoing military conflict between Iran and the Israel-US combine, National Conference president Farooq Abdullah on Thursday called for immediate de-escalation in the Middle East and urged all parties involved to exercise restraint.
In a statement, Abdullah said the continuation of hostilities poses a serious threat to regional stability and global peace.
The National Conference chief appealed to the nations and international mediators engaged in facilitating a dialogue between the warring sides to use their influence and diplomatic channels to the fullest, encouraging all stakeholders to come to the negotiating table in a spirit of compromise and mutual understanding.
The former J-K chief minister stressed that only sustained dialogue and constructive engagement can lead to a lasting solution that can address the underlying issues and bring peace to the region.
He said a prolonged conflict in West Asia not only endangers human lives but also has far-reaching implications for global security, trade, and humanitarian conditions.
Abdullah reiterated the National Conference’s commitment to peace, justice, and diplomacy, urging the global community to redouble efforts in promoting a resolution that ensures lasting stability and safeguards human dignity.
Iran and the US appeared at an impasse on Thursday, with each side hardening its position over talks and setting the stage for another potential escalation in the Middle East war.
Thousands more US troops have neared the region, while Tehran has tightened its grip on the crucial Strait of Hormuz.
While the US-Israeli campaign has hit Iran's military and government hard, killing top leaders and striking scores of targets, Iran continues to fire missiles and there is no sign of an uprising against the government in the country.
