New Delhi, March 20 The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has waived road restoration charges for three months for laying pipelines to expand piped natural gas (PNG) connections in its areas, according to a circular issued on Friday.
The decision will remain in effect for three months and is expected to facilitate faster rollout of PNG connections by Indraprastha Gas Limited, an official statement read.
The waiver is intended to remove delays in the execution of pipeline works and ensure that households and commercial establishments receive connections without procedural hold-ups.
As part of the directions, NDMC has asked its departments to grant permission for road cutting within 24 hours of receiving complete applications, allowing work to begin immediately.
IGL has been instructed to prioritize the work by deploying adequate manpower and to ensure that dug-up stretches are promptly backfilled to avoid inconvenience to residents, an official statement read.
Officials added that NDMC’s road divisions have also been directed to restore affected stretches within a fixed time frame to minimize disruption to traffic and pedestrians.
The civic body said all concerned officials have been asked to ensure compliance with the directions.
