
The action thriller film, "One Battle After Another," made a splash at the 79th British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs), winning six awards, including Best Film, and saw Paul Thomas Anderson awarded Best Director. He also won for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Cinematography. He dedicated the award to the late British producer and assistant director, Adam Somner.
The vampire film, "Sinners," and the gothic horror film, "Frankenstein," each won three awards. Ryan Kuger won Best Original Screenplay for "Sinners," while Wonmee Mosaku won Best Supporting Actress. Shawn Pen won Best Supporting Actor for "One Battle After Another."
Jessica Buckley won Best Actress for "Hamnet," while Robert Aramayo won Best Actor for the British indie film, "I Swear." Aramayo defeated nominees Leonardo DiCaprio and Timothy Chalamet. "Hamnet" also won Best British Film.
The ceremony, held at the Royal Festival Hall in London, was attended by many prominent figures from Hollywood and the British film industry, including Prince William and Princess Catherine of Wales. With 14 BAFTAs and 13 Oscar nominations, "One Battle After Another" is now a strong contender for the Academy Awards.
