
Bengaluru, March 31 The Karnataka Finance Department filed a police complaint on Tuesday regarding a "fake" memo circulating on social media, claiming that the services of contractual staff across government departments would be terminated upon the expiry of their contracts.
The Finance Department clarified that it had not issued such a memo, stating that the circulation of the fake memo had created confusion within government departments.
"Therefore, a complaint is hereby filed on behalf of the Government to take immediate action against the individuals who issued this fake memo in the name of the Finance Department," Under Secretary to the Government Finance Department, M Rajamma, said in a letter to the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vidhana Soudha.
According to an official source, the fake memo, dated March 24, instructed all departments to summarily terminate the services of outsourced employees, hired through agencies or based on agreements, whose terms had ended.
Later, the Under Secretary also issued a press release, clarifying that no such order or official memo had been issued by the Finance Department.
