Finding Fulfillment in Filmmaking Beyond Blockbusters.webp

Mumbai, March 30 Director Bejoy Nambiar, best known for acclaimed films like "Shaitan", "David", and "Wazir", says he is fortunate to have the opportunity to tell his stories, even though his filmography is not filled with massive box office hits.

Making movies has never been easy, and Nambiar says he has now accepted the challenges that come with the job.

"While making my first and second film, I wondered why it was getting so difficult with each one. I've now come to terms with that. It's part of my filmmaking career that every film will be a challenge, from its creation to its release. I'm grateful that I'm still getting the chance to make films, despite not achieving a blockbuster commercial success," Nambiar told

The director most recently made "Tu Yaa Main", a survival thriller starring Adarsh Gourav and Shanaya Kapoor. He is pleased that the film received positive reviews.

"I want my work to be respected and appreciated. As long as my producer is recovering his money, I'm happy. Anything else is a bonus, but the respect and appreciation are very important."

The film centered around two social media influencers, whose romantic getaway takes a deadly turn when they find themselves trapped in a swimming pool with a crocodile.

"I'm very happy with the reception it has received. The commercial aspect is quite disappointing, but I'm hoping that my producers are not in too much financial trouble," Nambiar said, adding that he is hopeful that the film will find a wider and more permanent audience once it is released on OTT.
