
Lawngtlai, April 6, 2026: Today, the Lawngtlai District-Level Committee on Fire Prevention, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Shri Donny Lalruatsanga, held a meeting at the DC Conference Hall. During the meeting, various ongoing and proposed fire prevention measures were reviewed.
Shri Donny Lalruatsanga began by expressing his gratitude to all the members present. He commended the efforts of the Committee and encouraged continued dedication and improvement. He highlighted that effective awareness campaigns on fire prevention are commendable, and thanked Village Councils (VCs), NGOs, and Churches for their cooperation. He also acknowledged the active participation of different government departments and appreciated the public for adhering to government instructions. Special thanks were extended to media personnel for their role in spreading awareness.
The Deputy Commissioner further expressed satisfaction that no fire incidents have been reported so far this year, attributing this achievement to the collective efforts of government bodies, VCs, NGOs, churches, and the public. He noted that while previous years saw frequent fire incidents, this year's situation has improved significantly due to strong collaboration. He expressed hope that Lawngtlai District may even receive recognition at the state level. He urged all departments, especially the Forest Department, along with VCs, NGOs, churches, and the public, to remain vigilant against fire hazards.
Shri K. Lalromawia, DCCF, LADC, and Member Secretary, presented a brief report stating that no forest fire incidents have been reported in Lawngtlai District so far. He highlighted that government guidelines are being actively implemented. Awareness materials such as flyers and short videos have been produced, and media personnel who contribute articles on fire prevention will be rewarded. Hoardings and stickers are also being prepared and displayed. Awareness campaigns have been conducted in 34 villages, including programs in primary and middle schools.
A report from CADC representatives was also presented, noting effective awareness campaigns and strong cooperation with VCs and NGOs. Regular field inspections are being carried out to monitor fire situations, and no fire incidents have been reported within CADC areas.
During the meeting, discussions were held on past initiatives and future strategies. The Committee emphasized the importance of continued collaboration among VCs, NGOs, churches, and the public. It was agreed that ongoing fire prevention efforts should be strengthened, particularly in awareness activities, installation of more fire hydrants, and that prohibitory orders may be reissued if necessary.
All members of the District-Level Committee on Fire Prevention attended the meeting. The session concluded with a vote of thanks by Shri PC Lalchunglura, Superintendent of Police, Lawngtlai.
